Development of ProSlide HydroMAGNETIC Linear Induction Motors
Our work with ProSlide Technology Inc. on the HydroMAGNETIC range of rocket waterslides is a perfect example of the best qualities of Linear Induction Motors. We were first approached by ProSlide, investigating a possible alternative for the friction belt drives on the uphill sections of their rocket range of water rides. The belt drives were proving to be a maintenance problem due water exposure, control issues and mechanical wear issues often found in mechanical drives.
Working closely with the ProSlide team, we designed both a specific LIM and a bespoke control system to meet the unique requirements of the project.
We constructed a small test track on-site and were able to optimize the components and ensure a robust performance from the drives in real operational conditions. Furthermore, Force Engineering were able to work with ProSlide to develop motor physical protection methods suitable for the challenging operating environment of water rides.
The ProSlide HydroMAGNETIC Rockets have been a huge success, with ten installations globally so far and ongoing development and production work on future installations.
